The new house was envisaged as four interconnecting elements, which would in turn, inform three external courtyards of differing sizes, functions and exposure – an entrance courtyard; a West facing kitchen/dining courtyard; and a larger formal lawn.
The land was low lying and it was decided to elevate a large part of the house above the external ground level, creating a split level plan at ground floor level and giving the elevated floors a better perspective over the surrounding landscape.
This project was featured in Grand Designs Magazine and the Daily Telegraph.
